18-Day Uganda Safari

DAY 2 – ENTEBBE LEISURE & LAKE VICTORIA EXPERIENCE

Today is a soft introduction to Uganda. After breakfast, you may choose to explore Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a peaceful lakeside forest reserve filled with monkeys, exotic birds, and ancient trees.

Alternatively, you may visit local craft markets or enjoy a relaxed boat experience on Lake Victoria, where fishing communities, islands, and birdlife create a scenic introduction to Uganda’s natural beauty.

This day is designed to help you adjust slowly before beginning long safari drives.

DAY 8 – CRATER LAKES & CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

Morning game drive or optional boat safari. Drive back to Entebbe with a stop at the Equator for photos and souvenirs. Continue to Entebbe International Airport for departure.

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN ENTEBBE

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari driver-guide. After a short briefing about your 18-day journey across Uganda, you will be transferred to your hotel located near the shores of Lake Victoria.

The drive is short and smooth, giving you your first impressions of Uganda’s tropical greenery and friendly atmosphere. The remainder of the day is at leisure to recover from your international flight. You may relax at the hotel, enjoy the gardens, or take a quiet walk along the lakeside depending on arrival time.

Itinerary

DAY 3 – ENTEBBE – ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY – MURCHISON FALLS

After an early breakfast, you depart northwards into Uganda’s countryside. The journey offers scenic views of roadside markets, villages, and plantations.

Your first stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos are protected in the wild. Accompanied by armed rangers, you will track rhinos on foot, observing them at close range in their natural habitat.

After lunch, continue to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival, you will visit the dramatic Top of the Falls where the Nile River is violently squeezed through a narrow gorge before plunging into a powerful waterfall below.

DAY 4 – MURCHISON FALLS GAME DRIVE & NILE BOAT SAFARI

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive across the northern savannah plains of the park. This is the best time to spot predators such as lions and hyenas, as well as elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and Uganda kob grazing across the open grasslands.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari along the Nile River towards the base of Murchison Falls. The riverbanks are alive with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of bird species including kingfishers and fish eagles.

Return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation and dinner.

DAY 5 – MURCHISON FALLS LEISURE & OPTIONAL NILE DELTA SAFARI

Today is a more relaxed safari day. You may choose an optional boat safari to the Nile Delta area, a quieter section of the river where the Nile flows into Lake Albert.

This area is famous for rare bird species such as the shoebill stork and offers a peaceful contrast to the main river cruise. Alternatively, enjoy a full day at the lodge, soaking in the wilderness views and sounds of nature.

DAY 6 – MURCHISON FALLS – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you begin your journey to western Uganda. The drive takes you through changing landscapes including rural villages, crater lakes, rolling hills, and tea plantations.

You arrive in Kibale Forest National Park in the afternoon, a lush tropical rainforest known as the primate capital of East Africa. The environment becomes cooler and greener as you approach the forest zone.

The evening is spent relaxing at your lodge surrounded by forest sounds.

DAY 7 – CHIMPANZEE TRACKING & BIGODI WETLAND

After an early breakfast, you proceed to the park headquarters for briefing before entering Kibale Forest.

The trek takes you deep into dense rainforest in search of chimpanzees. Once located, you will observe them for one hour as they feed, groom, play, and communicate in their natural environment.

In the afternoon, you visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community conservation area rich in primates, butterflies, and over 200 bird species.

DAY 11 – ISHASHA TREE-CLIMBING LIONS

Today you explore the scenic crater lake region around Fort Portal. These volcanic lakes are surrounded by rolling green hills and offer breathtaking viewpoints.

You may also engage in a cultural experience with local communities, including coffee processing, banana brewing, or traditional storytelling.

This is a relaxed scenic day before continuing deeper into safari regions.

DAY 9 – KIBALE – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you drive into Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing crater lakes and foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the Kasenyi plains, where elephants, lions, buffalo, hyenas, and Uganda kob are commonly seen.

DAY 10 – GAME DRIVE & KAZINGA CHANNEL BOAT SAFARI

Start the day with a morning game drive exploring different park sectors. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, one of Africa’s richest wildlife waterways.

Expect large pods of hippos, crocodiles, elephants bathing along the shores, and abundant birdlife.

DAY 12 – QUEEN ELIZABETH – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Today you explore the remote Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees.

The area offers a more remote and untouched safari experience with large buffalo herds and open savannah landscapes.

DAY 13 – GORILLA TREKKING (BWINDI)

After breakfast, you continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The drive takes you through mountainous terrain and dense rainforest scenery.

You arrive in the mist-covered forest region, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

DAY 14 – BWINDI LEISURE & BATWA EXPERIENCE

Early morning briefing before entering the forest for gorilla trekking. The trek may take between 2–6 hours depending on gorilla movement.

Once located, you spend one unforgettable hour observing a gorilla family in their natural habitat — a life-changing wildlife experience.

Return to the lodge for rest and relaxation.

DAY 16 – SECOND GORILLA TREK (MGAHINGA)

Today is a relaxed recovery day after trekking. You may choose to visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle, storytelling, and survival techniques.

Alternatively, enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings at your lodge.

DAY 15 – BWINDI – MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park located in the Virunga volcanic region. The landscape changes dramatically into bamboo forests and volcanic peaks.

DAY 18 – LAKE MBURO – ENTEBBE – DEPARTURE

Today you experience a second gorilla trekking adventure in Mgahinga, offering a completely different ecosystem of bamboo forest and volcanic slopes.

DAY 17 – MGAHINGA – LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park. In the evening, enjoy a guided walking safari among zebras, giraffes, impalas, and antelopes.
